We face more problems from educated people: Karnataka Minister U.T. Khader

Khader said that governments are facing more problems from educated people than the uneducated ones.Speaking at the district-level Teacher’s Day celebrations, Mr. Khader, who heads the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Educational Reforms, said, “Governments face problems from educated people than the uneducated ones. Educated people are the ones found involved in corrupt practices, communal activities, and terrorist activities. It is important for you focus more on teaching moral values to students.”Mr. Khader said teaching in the present age of technology is challenging. “Students use artificial intelligence to check the knowledge of teachers. It is necessary for teachers to be up to date with AI and prevailing technological advancements. These are all the aspects we (cabinet sub committee) are looking into,” Mr. Khader said.Teachers, he said, were vital in shaping the future generation. Teachers should pour their knowledge and turn the new generation into a treasure. The government is committed to solving the problems of teachers. Action was being taken to fill over 16,000 posts of teachers in government schools. The problem faced by ‘Guest’ teachers was also being addressed.Mr. Khader called upon members of the School Development and Monitoring Committees of government schools not to cause problems to teachers, but work in coordination with the latter for betterment of children.The Minister felicitated 21 teachers from lower primary, higher primary, and high school, who have been given this year’s best teachers award.Though the function was advanced to 9 a.m., the programme could not begin before 10 a.m. due to a scheduling clash with the launch of the Praja Divas programme in Puttur by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at 11 a.m.Mr. Khader quickly inaugurated the programme and felicitated the award winning teachers before leaving the venue with Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan and other district officials at 10.30 a.m. for the district-level ‘Praja Divas’ programme in Puttur, which is 90 minutes drive from Mangaluru.A good number of teachers took part in the voluntary blood donation camp organised by the Education Department at the mini town hall, adjoining the Town hall, which was the venue for the Teacher’s Day function.
