Editorial Mission & Standards
KhanList is built on a simple conviction: readers deserve access to the full story, told from every angle, without spin or gatekeeping. Our editorial mission is transparency, multi-perspective coverage, and an unwavering commitment to fighting misinformation.
Our Editorial Mission
We believe that no single news source tells the whole story. Every publisher brings its own perspective, priorities, and blind spots. KhanList addresses this by aggregating coverage from a diverse set of sources — spanning the political spectrum, crossing national borders, and including both legacy outlets and emerging digital publishers.
Our goal is not to tell you what to think. It's to show you what's being said, by whom, and from what perspective — so you can form your own informed opinion.
Content Standards
Source Selection
We aggregate content from over 50 news publishers chosen for their editorial standards, reach, and credibility. Sources include wire services (AP, Reuters), major broadcasters (CNN, BBC, Fox News), international outlets (Al Jazeera, The Guardian), and respected digital publishers (The Verge, Ars Technica, TechCrunch). We periodically review our source list and add or remove outlets based on accuracy track records and editorial standards.
Full Coverage
When multiple outlets cover the same story, KhanList clusters them into a single "Full Coverage" view. This allows readers to see how the same event is being reported across different outlets and perspectives. We believe this comparative approach is the best antidote to media bias.
Bias Methodology
Each source on KhanList is tagged with its known editorial lean based on established media bias research from organizations like AllSides and Ad Fontes Media. These indicators are displayed transparently so readers can factor editorial perspective into their reading. We do not editorialize — we label and let readers decide.
Corrections Policy
KhanList does not produce original reporting on breaking news events — we aggregate and organize existing coverage. However, we take accuracy seriously in our own editorial content, metadata, and categorization.
If you spot an error — a miscategorized article, an incorrect bias label, a broken source link, or factual error in our editorial content — please email contact@khanlist.com with:
- The URL of the affected page
- A description of the error
- The correct information (if known)
We review all correction requests within 48 hours and publish updates as needed. Significant corrections are noted on the affected page.
AI Disclosure
KhanList uses artificial intelligence to assist in several aspects of our platform:
- Article Categorization: AI models classify incoming articles into topic categories (AI, US, World, Travel, Weather, etc.).
- Story Clustering: Machine learning algorithms identify related articles and group them into story clusters for Full Coverage views.
- Headline Summarization: AI generates concise summaries to help readers quickly scan topics. These summaries always link to the original source article.
- Ranking: Articles are ranked by an algorithmic combination of recency, source diversity, and coverage volume — not by engagement bait or advertising revenue.
Important: All content on KhanList links to original source articles from their respective publishers. We do not use AI to fabricate news, generate fake articles, or replace journalism. AI is a tool for organization and accessibility — the journalism comes from the reporters and editors at our source publications.
Independence
KhanList is independently operated by Brain Careers, LLC. We are funded through advertising. Advertising relationships have zero influence on editorial decisions, article selection, ranking, or presentation. This separation is absolute and non-negotiable.
