Very unexpected Robert and Kev union leaves Emmerdale’s Aaron uncomfortable

Robert takes a risk (Picture: ITV) Things are #awks in Emmerdale soon as Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) discovers Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has given his ex Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) a job. When Kev returned to the village earlier this year, he wasted no time in telling Robert that he was ready to start divorce proceedings. The duo got married in prison, but their relationship wasn’t sustainable in the outside world. Kev displayed a possessive side to his personality once he sensed that he was losing Robert, leading to him making some er, questionable choices, to put it mildly. He departed the village following a brief story with John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) at the end of 2025, and then returned in June to try and build a relationship with his son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches). As complicated as Kev is, there is no denying he has a big heart. While most of it is filled with his love for Lewis, a special place is slowly being reserved for Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). He helps at the café, and also drops everything to assist Nicola when her grief becomes overwhelming. Next week, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) approaches Nicola and puts forward her theory that Kev might like her more than just a pal. Meanwhile, Kev tells Lewis about a recent incident with Nicola, and how he’s wondering if there’s a spark between them. Impressed by Kev’s steaks (careful), Robert decides to give his ex a chance as the lead chef. Aaron makes it clear that he isn’t happy with this, but Robert is adamant that hiring Kev is the right move.
