To top this off, Lewis graduated from Northumbria University with First Class Honours in Film & TV Studies, truly exemplifying his experience in the medium. A new Star Wars series is on the horizon, and it will officially continue the most vital story arc introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. As for Star Wars TV shows, The Clone Wars started it all; its popularity led to sequels like Star Wars Rebels and undoubtedly influenced Lucasfilm's decision to shift the franchise toward Disney+ originals in 2019. Although upcoming Star Wars movies indicate another shift back to theatrical releases, Disney+ will still house some stories in a galaxy far, far away. One such story is Ahsoka season 2. Set to be released on Disney+ in January 2027, Ahsoka season 2 will pick up where season 1 left off; Ahsoka and Sabine are trapped in the distant galaxy of Peridea, following the mysterious trail of Baylan Skoll, a former Jedi who looks to unleash a power that will stop the endless churn of good vs. evil in Star Wars. Meanwhile, Star Wars Rebels' beloved characters will face off with Grand Admiral Thrawn, a former Imperial leader who seeks to reinstate the Empire as the galaxy's ruling body. Naturally, Ahsoka season 2's story sounds exciting as it is, teasing a massive conflict between the Imperials and the New Republic. However, it is the storyline of the titular character herself that teases a more intriguing, mysterious side of the Star Wars franchise. Via her search for Baylan Skoll, the teases from season 1, and the promises of season 2, Ahsoka's storyline will continue the most important plot point that was introduced to Star Wars in The Clone Wars season 3. Ahsoka Season 2 Is A Sequel To Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Mortis Gods Episode At the end of Ahsoka season 1, Baylan Skoll was last seen standing atop massive rock carvings depicting the Mortis Gods, first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 3, episode 15, "Overlords." Since the Mortis arc in The Clone Wars, Ahsoka has been inextricably linked to one of the deities, the Daughter, after the latter brought the former back from the dead. For a while, Ahsoka season 1 seemed to simply be a story about finding Ezra Bridger and stopping Grand Admiral Thrawn, before Baylan's plot unveiled the Mortis connections. Baylan's plan to follow the breadcrumbs of the Mortis Gods in Peridea and find an unspecified power was easily the most intriguing, exciting element of Ahsoka season 1's finale, with season 2 set to explore more. The first concept art for Ahsoka season 2 showed the titular Jedi and Sabine standing atop the giant statue of the Father, another Mortis God. Then, in Ahsoka season 2's trailers, it was confirmed that the key to her continued journey was following Baylan and uncovering the mystery of his own path. Who The Mortis Gods Are & Why They're So Important For anyone unfamiliar with Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the Mortis Gods, the burning question will be why they are so important. Putting it simply, the Mortis Gods are embodiments of aspects of the Force itself. Their planet, Mortis, is a giant nexus through which the Force flows, with each god representing a different side of it; The Son symbolizes the dark side, the Daughter embodies the light, and the Father the balance between them. In The Clone Wars, their existence was so important due to how it tied to Anakin Skywalker's journey as the Chosen One of the Force. Anakin was chosen to be the Father's replacement, thus keeping balance between the light and dark sides of the Force. However, as we know Anakin was in Star Wars, the hero was seduced by the Son and the dark side, before killing the latter, after the deaths of the Daughter and the Father, thus restoring balance. George Lucas intended the Mortis Gods and their storyline to be a metaphor for the Force itself and how it ties to Anakin Skywalker's journey. Since then, it has expanded. The Mortis Gods were tied to time-travel-like stories in Star Wars Rebels via the World Between Worlds, which was also present in Ahsoka season 1. Now, their links to huge powers are part of Ahsoka season 2, with Baylan Skoll seeking out one such ability that is mysteriously connected to the Force deities themselves.
