Sign in to your TheGamer account Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches today, and despite registering the best review scores for a Star Wars game since Knights of the Old Republic, fans are concerned about its multiplayer limitations. Good news on that front - Secret Mode and Fuse Games have already addressed those worries and detailed what’s coming in an upcoming update. Upping Galactic Racer's Party Limit The limitations on Galactic Racer’s Multiplayer and Podracing Tours mean that, even though lobbies for the former support 12 players, and eight for the latter, you can only party up with two of your friends. Not only does that mean no private or custom lobbies, but it also means a maximum of three of you racing against strangers, even if you don’t want to. The Galactic Racer devs have heard the pre-launch complaints that have arisen from fans seeing footage from the new Star Wars game's reviews and confirmed how it plans to make the playing experience better for those who want to play in parties of more than three. “We're working on an update to expand the party size from three players to six players, which we're aiming to release within the first few weeks of launch,” is the reply the game’s official account has been sharing with those expressing their concerns on Twitter. While that’s good news and means more of you will be able to jump into tours together very soon, that’s only part of the issue. However, in an extended update posted on the Galactic Racer Discord, the team at Fuse has clarified that, even though there aren’t plans for custom lobbies in the immediate future, today’s launch is only the beginning of what Galactic Racer will eventually become. Galactic Racer's Future Will Be Dictated By How You Play “We have ideas for how Galactic Racer can grow, but how the community actually plays - and what matters most to you - will help inform where we take it next,” the message reads. That implies that if enough people highlight a certain way they’d like to play Galactic Racer, or a feature that would improve the game, then the team at Fuse will be listening and implementing those changes and features wherever possible. Despite Galactic Racer’s glowing reviews - I gave the game a 4.5 out of 5 here at TheGamer and loved almost everything about it - there will be room for improvement. As its developers highlight, though, most of those improvements will be based on observing how people play and building from there. Not only bigger parties and potentially custom lobbies, but hopefully also customizable offline races and eventually multiplayer split-screen, two features I hoped would be there at launch. As much as those modes and features might seem like necessary inclusions to some, it’s clear that the focus has been on making sure Galactic Racer’s campaign was perfect, and that outside of the party size and custom lobby problems, its online multiplayer was ready to go. I can confirm those missions were very much accomplished, hence the glowing reviews.
