Sonos unveils ‘Sonos 27’ software with four new features

Today alongside launching two new products, Sonos has unveiled ‘Sonos 27’ branding for its software platform and detailed four new features coming soon for Sonos users. Here are four new ‘Sonos 27’ features launching this fall Sonos has launched Sonos Ace Ultra headphones today alongside a Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar. And in addition to the new hardware introductions, the company has rebranded its software. ‘Sonos 27’ is the official name of the Sonos software platform that already exists, but is getting a proper name starting today. More than just a rebrand though, Sonos announced four new software features coming this fall to Sonos users: Portable surrounds Personal listening Sonos 27voice Sonos MCP Portable surrounds Turn two compatible portable speakers into wireless rear surrounds for movie night — then move them right back to wherever they usually live when the credits roll. No wires, no permanent setup, no rearranging furniture. Personal listening, without missing a beat Headphone linking which is available in Early Access, allows you to seamlessly move audio between Sonos Ace Ultra and a compatible Sonos speaker or group streaming over the same WiFi connection with just the press of a button. The new Sonos voice experience Sonos 27voice is a new way to ask for music, built specifically for that purpose in the home, and the shortest path from wanting a song to hearing it. Instead of remembering exact commands, you can ask the way you’d talk to someone in the room with you. Say things like “Play that song I had on in the kitchen last night,” or “Put on something downstairs that the kids will like.” The system works out the rest. Control Sonos with the AI you already use Sonos has always been an open platform. Sonos MCP expands it. Sonos MCP connects your system to frontier large language models (LLMs), so you can control Sonos from familiar chatbot interfaces and mix advanced dialog and reasoning with out-loud listening on your speakers.
