British brewery Timothy Taylor enrages drinkers by giving logo Gen Z rebrand

CLASSIC British brewery Timothy Taylor has enraged drinkers by giving its logo a Gen Z rebrand. But critics have reacted with dismay at the switch from the previous 1920s communist worker inspired logo. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! One branded it “woke” adding it had replaced “a salt of the earth northerner with a fella that looks like he belongs on a barber shop sign”. A second said the character looked like a dead ringer for stand-up comic Fin Taylor. Another said: “Is nothing sacred to these ghouls?” And Jack Donald posting on X: “They’ll claim it’s to make youths want to drink it when all it does is p*** off people that actually do drink it.” One user joked: “People born after 1990 should not be allowed to make a decision, like any decision at all.” The brewery, established in Keighley in 1858, has also altered the logo for its other beers including Golden Best and Boltmaker. Chief exec Andrew Carter said: “It’s about making sure the quality and care that go into every pint are reflected in how Timothy Taylor’s is presented today, so we’re just as relevant to the next generation of drinkers as we’ve been to the last.” The firm said the same ingredients are used including the water drawn from the spring under the brewery.
