There are only a few airlines that continue to operate the Airbus A380, and Qatar Airways is among them. The Doha-based airline and oneworld Alliance member currently operates eight of the double-decker aircraft. According to aviation analytics provider Cirium, it has scheduled more than 2,800 A380 flights between November 2026 and September 2027. Until the weekend's schedule update, the Qatari flag carrier had planned to deploy the aircraft on four routes from March 2027, when the summer schedule begins. These included flights from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG), London Heathrow Airport (LHR), and Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). However, the airline has now removed the A380 from its Singapore schedule. Historical schedule data and Flightradar24 records show that it operated its 517-seat quadjet on a handful of flights between DOH and SIN in January and February. In fact, Cirium data indicates that A380 services were also scheduled for March, although flight-tracking records show that the last scheduled flight of the type operated on February 28. The airline had initially planned to bring the Airbus double-decker back to Singapore in September, but subsequently moved its return to late March next year, coinciding with the start of the summer schedule. Its planned operations for April were as follows: Doha (DOH) to Singapore (SIN); Local time Singapore (SIN) to Doha (DOH); Local time QR948: 3:05 AM-3:45 PM QR947: 7:40 PM-10:40 PM These flights are now scheduled to operate using it 283-seat Airbus A350-900, which features 36 business class seats and 247 economy seats. The latest filing shows the oneworld Alliance member will operate just one A380 flight on the route, scheduled for April 5, 2027. This might change in the future. Overall, Qatar Airways currently offers two to three daily flights between Doha and Singapore, primarily using the A350-900. It also occasionally deploys its larger A350-1000 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the route. Before the SIN flights were removed, the airline had scheduled one daily A380 service to the UK airport, but this has now increased to two daily flights. Elsewhere, from November onwards, the airline has scheduled up to 11 weekly A380 flights to BKK and one daily service to CDG, although the latter will not see any quadjet operations in April or May 2027. In general, Qatar Airways' A380 deployments have declined compared to last year, based on scheduled operations between January and December 2026 against the same period in 2025. SIN is not the only destination to lose the double-decker. The airline has also stopped deploying the type to Perth International Airport (PER) and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), both of which saw regular A380 operations last year. It will continue to serve the Chinese city using the smaller, 412-seat 777-300ER. From November onwards, five airlines are scheduled to operate the type at the airport: British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qantas, and Singapore Airlines. The UK airline only returned the superjumbo to Singapore last month. It previously operated the aircraft to the Lion City between 2014 and 2020, and brought it back in 2024. That deployment continued until May 2025. Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways is scheduled to resume A380 flights to Singapore on December 16. In a typical week next summer, Changi Airport is expected to see an average of around 16 daily A380 departures. For obvious reasons, Singapore Airlines will account for half of these, deploying its double-deckers on routes to destinations including Auckland, Delhi, Mumbai, London, Frankfurt, and Sydney.
