There are only a small handful of characters in The Blood of Dawnwalker that Coen can pursue romantically, but it's somewhat easy to miss these opportunities if you aren't careful. One relationship that can be missed in The Blood of Dawnwalker if you aren't thorough is Crake, who may not be an obvious romantic interest right off the bat given his attitude and posture toward Coen. !!! This means advancing your notoriety and finding the hidden manumit hideout in Svartrau City, completing Sara's leg of the journey, and finding Crake's old friend Mevasser. Crake's Romance Happens After The Distant Shadows Quest If you follow Crake and the manumit's questline up to the point where you unlock the "Distant Shadows" quest, you'll be tasked with secretly following a man named Ascar and tracking his movements over the course of a day. The nature of this quest is kept intentionally vague by Crake, and players will eventually follow the man into the woods where he is jumped by a couple of nasty guards. You will have the opportunity to intervene multiple times throughout this encounter, or to stay silent in the shadows and let the old man get beat up without helping. No matter what you end up doing, the results are the same when you return to Crake to report your findings. As such, you should be a nice guy and help Ascar out, even if he isn't exactly happy after learning of Crake's involvement. Updating Crake on the Ascar situation will inevitably result in him storming off to his "secret spot" for the "A Closer Look" quest to begin outright. How To Romance Crake During A Closer Look In order to actually romance Crake during the "A Closer Look" quest, you'll need to pry into the nature of his connection with Ascar, which you can do easily by observing that it's his father. Advancing the conversation further, it will become apparent that Crake has a secret that only Ascar and a few others are aware of. Crake will express his fear that Coen will "turn his back" on him like his father did, and you'll have to select the "Nothing you can say can change the way I see you" option to trigger Crake's advances. He will lean in to kiss Coen, and you'll have to advance time and kiss him back to trigger the romance scene, which is actually quite tame compared to both Anca and Lacra's respective sex scenes. Afterward, Coen and Crake will discuss their sexuality and how Crake has had to hide his secret from most people, and how it ruined his relationship with his father. Coen will also confess his bisexuality and reveal details about how his mother may have known. What Happens If You Romance Crake Romancing Crake does not unlock any extra rewards or bonuses, and you'll still earn the XP from completing the "A Closer Look" quest whether you decide to romance him or not. Further, Coen will have a dialogue option with Crake afterward to discuss his feelings, but there are no additional scenes to unlock beyond the initial encounter. Further, there are no major benefits from romancing Crake if you choose to pursue the manumit ending, and you'll more or less have the same endgame experience either way. Ultimately, much like Coen's romance with both Lacra and Anca, Crake's romance is entirely optional in The Blood of Dawnwalker and does not have a major impact on gameplay itself in terms of rewards or bonuses.
