World models are rooted in realistic experiences and outputs, aimed at allowing users to generate true-to-life sequences.For example, creative users can experiment with world-building elements for games and movies, while scientists could explore aerodynamics and collisions.Google’s suggested use cases for Genie 4 included creative direction, making historical scenarios, generating immersive photographs, designing interactive experiences, and simulation.Google stressed that the “most dramatic leap” lay in how Genie 4 simulated people, such as natural-looking and responsive characters.The company highlighted that Genie 4 was its first real-time world model to generate audio natively.Google assured users that Genie 4 included strict safety guardrails and had gone through internal safety evaluations. All video and audio generated by Genie 4 will include the company’s SynthID watermark.Availability is restricted for now, with Google rolling out Genie 4 as a research preview for trusted testers. Customers who will get it later include Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and early access partners of the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.Users can also join the waitlist for Genie 4 in Project Genie.“A promising path for future progress lies in hybrid world models, which combine the logical, structured reasoning of code and language models with the rich, sensory representation of pixel-level simulation,” stated Google in a blog post about Genie 4’s infrastructure.“Gemini works behind the scenes to map the structure and plan the narrative timeline, while Genie generates the immediate physical reality—rendering how the world looks, sounds, and responds, pixel by pixel,” Google added.
