The revised schedule comes as the poll body cited delays in digitising enumeration forms in Telangana and the need to address data discrepancies in Odisha.Election Commission extends SIR deadlines for Odisha, TelanganaThe Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha and Telangana, giving voters additional time to verify their details, seek corrections and ensure their names are included in the voter list ahead of the next elections.The revised schedule comes as the poll body cited delays in digitising enumeration forms in Telangana and the need to address data discrepancies in Odisha.TELANGANA GETS SECOND EXTENSIONThe Election Commission has extended the deadline for the door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms and voter verification in Telangana for the second time.According to the revised schedule, the last date for completing the distribution of enumeration forms and voter verification has been pushed from August 3 to August 10, 2026. The draft electoral roll, which was scheduled to be published earlier, will now be released on August 17, 2026.Citizens will be able to file claims and objections regarding the draft voter list between August 17 and September 16, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 19, 2026. The Commission said the extension was necessitated by the slow pace of digitisation of enumeration forms received during the revision exercise.TIMELINE IN ODISHA ALSO REVISEDIn Odisha, the Election Commission has extended the period for filing claims and objections by 15 days to facilitate survey work and rectify data inconsistencies in the electoral rolls.Under the revised schedule, voters can now submit claims and objections until August 19 instead of August 4.The scrutiny and disposal of applications will continue until September 17, 2026, while the final electoral roll will now be published on September 21, 2026.WHAT VOTERS SHOULD DOThe Election Commission has advised voters whose names are missing from the electoral rolls or who wish to correct personal details to make use of the extended timeline.Eligible citizens can contact their Booth Level Officer (BLO) to submit applications for inclusion, correction or deletion of entries before the revised deadlines.The Special Intensive Revision is aimed at ensuring that electoral rolls remain accurate and updated by verifying voter details and addressing discrepancies before the publication of the final voter lists.- EndsPublished By: Akash ChatterjeePublished On: Aug 1, 2026 12:46 IST
