Dishonored Official Return Confirmed For 2026

Published Jul 18, 2026, 5:00 PM EDT Nicholas Becher is a gaming journalist with an MFA in Creative Writing from FAU. With extensive experience playing video games, he covers all forms of gaming content at Screen Rant, from breaking news to the latest fan theories. Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond. Dishonored remains one of Arkane Studios' defining achievements more than a decade after its debut, with the studio producing three critically acclaimed entries, all of which are undisputed bangers in the genre. Dishonored, Dishonored 2, and Death of the Outsider all continue to rank among the greatest immersive sims ever made, up there with legendary titles like BioShock and Deus Ex. Despite years of silence from Bethesda, fans have never stopped campaigning for a proper sequel, with discussion around Dishonored 3 regularly reignited by "leaks," industry rumors, and comments from former Arkane developers suggesting ideas for another installment still exist. More recently, uncertainty surrounding Arkane amid Microsoft's XBOX restructuring has only intensified concern over the franchise's future, making the prospect of returning to Dunwall or the wider Empire of the Isles feel more uncertain. However, Dishonored is officially making an epic return in 2026 with a brand-new game that is confirmed to arrive before the end of the year, and longtime fans of the franchise will definitely want to keep their ear to the ground for an announcement coming soon (via Gamefound). Dishonored is making a return later this year with the launch of the officially licensed board game from Archon Studio. While no specific release date has been announced, the crowdfunding campaign is confirmed to be going live in "a few months" according to one of the studio's developers, who posted a reply in the official game thread late in June after the official "trailer" launched (shown below). While details are still sparse on the project at the moment, Dishonored: The Board Game is an official tabletop adaptation of Arkane Studios' acclaimed stealth franchise, with a crowdfunding campaign currently in its preview phase on Gamefound. Designed for 1–4 players, the cooperative campaign game emphasizes the same sense of immersion that made the video games famous, allowing groups to tackle missions through stealth, supernatural abilities, or melee combat. Central to the experience is the iconic Chaos System, where Low Chaos and High Chaos decisions permanently alter future scenarios, while a "fail forward" campaign ensures the story can be picked up again even if you end up in dire straits. Players will explore Dunwall using vertical movement, hidden paths, unique hero abilities, and supernatural powers inspired by the games, with scenarios expected to last roughly 180 minutes each. Rather than controlling Corvo Attano, players take the perspective of a different faction operating within the Empire of the Isles, while Corvo instead appears in a separate narrative role. It's also worth noting that this is NOT the same tabletop adaptation as Modiphius Entertainment's Dishonored: The Roleplaying Game, which launched in 2020 using the publisher's 2d20 system. That release is a traditional tabletop RPG centered on collaborative storytelling, character creation, and Game Master-led campaigns, whereas Archon Studio's project is a standalone cooperative board game built around tactical scenarios, miniatures, branching missions, and campaign progression. Although both faithfully adapt Dishonored's distinctive setting, they offer two very different experiences. That said, Archon Studio's is likely to post more specific launch information for its Gamefound campaign in the coming weeks, so if you aren't following along already and are excited about Dishonored's official 2026 return, you can do so on the preview page now.
