Skyrim Meets Game Of Thrones In This Epic Open-World Fantasy RPG Experience

Published Jul 18, 2026, 9:00 PM EDT Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there. Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers. Following the success of HBO's Game of Thrones, which came to an end back in 2019, there have been plenty of video games set across the Seven Kingdoms. From Game of Thrones: Kingsroad to Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, plenty of studios have dived into the world created by George R.R. Martin, but what if I told you that there is a way to experience the magic of Game of Thrones within The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Well, that is possible thanks to Invicta, a medieval-inspired modlist for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It may not be fully based on Game of Thrones, but thanks to its setting, it is hard not to see the comparison. We will not be seeing Daenerys Targaryen or Jon Snow, but we will head to the same time period. According to the mod description, players can expect a "darker but lush medieval fantasy theme with a mixture of the 14th-15th centuries." Developed by RGR29, Invicta has recently received a showcase video courtesy of YouTuber TheAvatarV. As such, we can see it in all of its glory, and most importantly, in 4K. Consisting of over 3000+ mods as part of the curated playlist, you will need quite a lot of storage to access Invicta, but by taking just a quick glance at TheAvatarV's video, it is clear to see that it is fully worth it. The mod, which has been in progress since 2024, is still receiving updates and, thanks to this video, we can see what Invicta has to offer as of March 2026. The video showcases a brand-new starting menu, character customization, locations, quests, and more. Put simply, every inch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been reimagined, making it completely unrecognizable. If you have already completed Skyrim, this is an entirely new experience, and it is clear that the modder has taken inspiration from the likes of both Game of Thrones and Dark Souls. As such, players took to the comments of TheAvatarV's to share their thoughts on this impressive modlist, and it is safe to say that they were pretty impressed. "Great showcase as per usual, mate," the top comment reads. "The list is looking fire. Been following it for over two years now. I believe while it was still under development. Love the vegetation density and dark and grimy look of the world." Another said, "Invicta is a very good modlist. Roger is talented and this modlist is really a safe bet Skyrim experience." Luckily, the Invicta modlist is completely free to download if you own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC.
