What has Brody done? (Picture: ITV) It’s the end of an era on Coronation Street as Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) faces the prospect of losing her beloved Underworld… and Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) has got one seriously guilty conscience. Most teenagers on the Cobbles do paper rounds at the Kabin or do a few shifts at the corner shop. Brody is not most teenagers… because he works as a professional minion for a ruthless cut-throat businessman. Ever since Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) took the lad under his wing, Brody has been dragged into some very shady dealings – including intimidation and kidnap. Brody and Idris have a kind of ‘Darth Vader and the Emperor’ vibe going on (Picture: ITV) Every dealing is shady where Idris is concerned. Putting the ‘hostile’ in hostile takeover, the Weatherfield wrong’un seems determined to add every business on the Cobbles to his property empire no matter who he hurts. Brody’s been going along with Idris’ schemes out of admiration, validation, and fear. But that might be about to change, as his horrible boss’s latest target happens to be the employer of his foster-mum, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor). That’s right. Idris is gunning for the Queen of Underworld herself, Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King). Idris wants Carla’s business… and he’s not taking no for an answer (Picture: ITV) Why exactly Idris wants to get his hands on a knicker factory, I couldn’t say. All I know is that because Carla won’t fall for Idris’ charm offensive, he’s resorting to playing dirty in next week’s trip to the Cobbles. After getting wind that Carla plans to cancel the Christmas bonus in order to get the current order out and keep Underworld from going under, Idris meets up with Brody at the back of the factory… and hands him a lighter. That ain’t good… Doing his boss’s bidding, Brody lets himself into No.4 and steals Sally’s set of factory keys. The next thing we know, a panicked Sally finds Carla and Lisa in the Rovers and tells them that the factory alarm is going off. What has Brody done? That, I couldn’t possibly say. Not just yet anyway. However, it’s bad enough that Carla has no option but to close Underworld’s doors, much to her workers’ dismay – and none more so than Sally. It’s a tough time for Carla… (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Not only is Brody disgusted by Idris’ total lack of concern that many people will be out of a job thanks to them, but then he finds Sally in tears at the Rovers, crushed that Carla has to sell the factory. It’s the straw the broke the camel’s back for Brody. Furious, he confronts Idris and threatens to tell Carla what he did. Brody stands up to Idris over his scheme to buy the factory (Picture: ITV) Giving an ultimatum to Idris is a bold move. Will it be Brody’s last?
