Blue Bendy Launch New Album With “Dragonslayer” Video

One Day This Will All Be Lore’s lead single presents “nationalistic mythology wrapped in a tragicomic romantic pop song”Photo by Olivia MorganBlue Bendy will return early next year with One Day This Will All Be Lore, the follow-up to their 2024 debut of absurdist indie-pop confessionals, So Medieval. Completed after a brief hiatus and the exit of two founding members, the album arrives on January 29, 2027. With the announcement comes a video directed by the London-based band’s own synthesist Olivia Morgan. Watch it below.The departure of Blue Bendy co-founders Harrison Charles and Oscar Tebbutt is attributed, in a press release, to the struggles with alcoholism of frontperson Arthur Nolan (pictured crouching in the foreground). Charles and Tebbutt are replaced by bassist Dina Willcock and drummer Tristan Petsola; original guitarists Joe Nash and Oliver Chester-Nolan, alongside Morgan and Nolan, complete the lineup. A 2025 episode in which a recovering Nolan fell off the wagon, was marooned in Germany, and came around in a sanatorium in Cologne is documented in an album track called “The Tiger Who Came to Tea.”Nolan says of “Dragonslayer,” “I was trying to subvert some Arthurian chivalry in a modern context. Especially as that medieval period is such a traditionally idolised time. Trying to look at Nationalistic mythology wrapped in a tragicomic romantic pop song, and the fantasies that any musician tells themself about fame, living in your own head.”Of the video, Morgan added, “I got a camera earlier this year and decided to try and answer every question i've ever had and analyse why everyone does any of the things they do in a 4 and a half minute sequence of videos. I’ve not made a music video before or done much with film at all but I want to learn how to do that so this is experiment one.”Check out the album tracklist and artwork below.
