Andrew Garfield’s Controversial New Movie Role Gets First Look After Amazon’s Divisive Drop

Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.Neon just revealed a first-look image at Andrew Garfield's new movie, Artificial, in which the actor plays OpenAI's Sam Altman. This biopic has faced a lot of controversy over the past several months. Amazon MGM Studios was initially supposed to release Artificial, but then earlier this year, the company announced a partnership with OpenAI, in a deal reportedly worth $50 billion, and then subsequently dropped the film from its distribution plans. Several other media entities reportedly refused to sign on as the new distributor, but Neon ended up acquiring it. Artificial is about to premiere at the New York Film Festival (NYFF) 's Main Slate on October 5 at Alice Tully Hall in New York City. With just over a month to go, Neon has shared the first image from the biopic, which features Garfield as Altman and Yura Borisov as Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer. In the photo, the two men are sitting at a table while raising shot glasses up in the air, presumably to give a toast and/or to celebrate the venture they're about to embark upon. Limited quantities of passes are currently on sale, and then single tickets will be made available for purchase starting September 15 at 12 p.m. EDT.
