Adam Ramsay-Peaty picks up second Commonwealth Games bronze medal as pregnant wife Holly watches on in Glasgow

ADAM RAMSAY-PEATY earned his second bronze medal of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the 50m breaststroke. The English star came in third behind gold medal winner Sam Williamson from Australia and South Africa’s Michael Houlie in second, as wife Holly Ramsay-Peaty watched on. He told TNT Sports: “Sometimes in that event, the harder you try the slower you go. It’s got to be in perspective, right? Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! “The last two years have been pretty tough but I think I will learn a lot from this experience as a whole. “I’m not too fussed about the medals.” Ramsay-Peaty later added: “I just ran out of room. There’s a lot of learning this week. “I’m pretty sure that was – I know I said it in Birmingham – absolutely my last individual Commonwealth. “So, I think tonight I just went out there and enjoyed it, really enjoyed it. “But we just weren’t fast enough. We weren’t good enough and we have to look at why. He said: “The superpower looks very different now. “I think juggling babies with milk and having a toddler around is, I guess, a different superpower when that time comes. “But as a professional athlete, yeah, I’m still committed. And I wouldn’t say it’s worth it now. “I’m not going to lie, it’s very frustrating. But at the same time, I think that’s what a team is for, that’s what a great team is for. “You digest it, just like any other sport, after play and you look at all the data. Say what went wrong here? “And then you really focus on that, nail those bits we need to nail. “Unfortunately, we haven’t got much of a turnaround between now and Europeans, so we can’t get another block of that working.” “But I’m a fast worker. I can adapt pretty well. And we’ll just see what we come away with.” Ramsay-Peaty, who got married last December to wife Ramsay, was considerably more visibly disappointed following his bronze medal effort on Saturday. The teary star said at the time: “In a final you want to give your fastest time. I’m not really sure why it wasn’t. “It’s been two years since I’ve done heat-semis-final, so maybe it’s just an adjustment. “It’s too early to tell what that event is capable of at this age now. But I’m a fighter. “I do enjoy a scrap, but I lost a scrap this time, in the last 25 metres, and that is sport. “For some reason, the Commonwealths are just that humble reminder. I go faster at champs in April, then go slower when I’ve got an actual real big cycle. It’s very raw. I feel like I deserve more.” Comment now
