Conor Benn opens door to Chris Eubank Jr trilogy at 168lb and vows: ‘No excuses, no rehydration clause’

CONOR BENN has sensationally reopened the door to a blockbuster trilogy fight with Chris Eubank Jr – vowing to move up THREE weight classes for their third clash. Their long-awaited clash was marred by disputes over weight limits, rehydration clauses, and massive monetary fines deducted from fight purses for coming in over weight. Eubank Jr, 36, won the first encounter at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April 2025 before Benn gained revenge with a dominant unanimous decision in their November rematch, dropping his rival twice to level the rivalry at 1-1. And Benn wants to prove that his masterclass in that second fight was no fluke and had nothing to do with Eubank’s struggles to make middleweight. While Benn, 29, insists the scars from those battles have not healed, he admits a decider is something he would welcome. Asked if he would complete the trilogy, Benn told SunSport: “I’m open for the trilogy.” When asked whether that fight could happen at super-middleweight instead of middleweight, he did not hesitate. Of course I would. “I’d fight him at 168. No excuses, no rehydration clause, none of that. I’d fight him at 168.” The weight is no coincidence either. Eubank Jr has endured well-documented struggles making the 160lb middleweight limit in recent years, with brutal weight cuts and purse penalties becoming a major talking point before both fights. Following last year’s rematch defeat, he spent time in hospital before eventually being discharged, and he is expected to return at super-middleweight when he resumes his career. Benn can relate to the struggles of making weight as he prepares for the biggest welterweight fight of his career – challenging Ryan Garcia for his WBC world title in Las Vegas on September 12. A unanimous win over former two-time super-lightweight king Regis Prograis at Tottenham in April earned him his shot, despite rumoured difficulties hitting the 150 lbs catchweight. Now he aims to drop down to 147 lbs for the first time since April 2022, the Essex star admitted the weight cut is a challenge in it’s own. He said: “The weight cut’s brutal, man. “It’s hard. It’s very hard. This will be my last fight at 147, for sure.” Despite opening the door to facing Eubank Jr again, Benn admits there is still too much hurt between them for the relationship to ever resemble the one eventually shared by their fathers. Asked whether the pair could one day follow Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr by taking part in speaking tours together, he replied: “We’re not there. “Don’t think we’ll ever get there.
