A Quiet Place is returning in November, and will make one major change for its big comeback. Published Oct 5, 2026, 2:06 PM EDT Shaun Corley has been with ScreenRant for over 5 years, and is currently the Coordinator for PR and Outreach for the Comics Team. EXLCUSIVE: A Quiet Place is changing settings for the franchise’s next expansion coming to comic stands in November and with that comes a new story, new characters, with a personal touch behind it all. Debuting in theaters in 2018, A Quiet Place began as a surprise hit, spawning a sequel and a prequel, as well as video games and now, comic books. These tie-ins expand A Quiet Place’s universe further, giving fans a clearer picture of the chaos the alien’s invasion caused. Conceived by Scott Beck and Brian Woods, along with John Krasinski, A Quiet Place was a modern spin on the “alien invasion” trope. Earth is attacked by an alien race with highly specialized hearing. Using echolocation, these aliens can locate their prey. As a result, the survivors must now always be quiet, making as little noise as possible. The first movie, directed by Krasinski, employed the concept’s tension to brilliant effect, putting audiences through the ringer emotionally and mentally. A Quiet Place was followed by a sequel three years later. Then, in 2024, the universe of A Quiet Place grew even further with the release of A Quiet Place: Day One. A prequel to the first film, Day One, showed the early days of the invasion from a different perspective. Characters from the other Quiet Place films appeared in Day One, creating a cohesive universe. Next, IDW Publishing is releasing a new A Quiet Place comic that takes the action out to sea. A Quiet Place: Rising Tides Moves The Action Out To Sea A Quiet Place: Rising Tides, will be written by Declan Shalvey and drawn by Luke Sparrow. The book, part of the IDW Dark imprint, is the followup to the mega-successful A Quiet Place: Storm Warning, which the publisher released earlier this year. Much like Storm Warning, Rising Tides will not star any characters from the films, instead focusing on new ones that add to the franchise. However, the book will not skimp on the human elements that made A Quiet Place a success, and will use them to tell a compelling story. Speaking exclusively with ScreenRant, as part of our Halloween 2026: 31 Days of Horror rollout, writer Shalvey had this to say: If you love the Quiet Place movies, this will speak to you. My goal was to tell an intimate story within this larger cataclysmic event as that’s what really resonated with me from the first film especially. The concept behind the films with the invading, terrifying creatures is such a simple but effective device with a fantastic visual menace but if you don’t resonate with the characters, it rings hollow. Outside of the concept itself, how the films play with sound was so compelling and made the films so much more interesting. How to apply that to a comic was the challenge that most interested me about this project, and I’m really delighted with how the whole team took those restrictions and made this comic more interesting because of it. A Quiet Place puts you in a place where you need to adapt the medium it uses to tell its story, which is truly unique. This series employs skills needed for silent comics, yet has to be extra considerate with how it uses sound when it has to. The story is a deeply emotional one, touching on some personal stuff for me. I think we can all resonate with not being able to talk to someone you really need to talk to, and the world of A Quiet Place is where we can experience in a more surreal way. IDW has provided preview pages from A Quiet Place: Rising Tides #1. The pages feature a bittersweet reunion between parent and child that is quickly overshadowed by the alien invasion. IDW has also released a solicitation for Rising Tides #1, which reads as follows: Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... When a young woman named Grace tracks her estranged father to a run-down houseboat in the Florida Keys, she expects disappointment, resentment, maybe even closure. Instead, the entire world ends. Now stranded in the aftermath of the invasion that shattered civilization, she and her sick, aging father cling to survival on the open water — the only space safe from the creatures who attack at the sound of a single breath. But his oxygen is running low, supplies are disappearing quickly, and the deadly predators circling the shoreline are learning fast. And on top of it all, a hurricane is coming. A tense, new emotional story begins within the world of the acclaimed A Quiet Place franchise. Declan Shalvey (Moon Knight, Wolverine, Terminator) and Luke Sparrow (Terminator) ask: What would you do when stuck between the choice of sudden death or rising tides? Most notably, Rising Tides transports the action oceanside. Previous entries in the franchise were set on land, even an island in A Quiet Place Part II, where water was thought to be safe so this only adds to the universe further. A Quiet Place's World Is About To Get A Lot Bigger Rising Tides Can Show More Of The World Of A Quiet Place, As Well As More Of The Aliens Few moviegoers in 2018 would have expected A Quiet Place to inaugurate a multimedia franchise, but the film’s winning combination of a great cast and white-knuckle suspense made it irresistible to audiences and studio heads. When Paramount released A Quiet Place: Day One, it was a watershed moment for the property. The previous movies hinted at more, and Day One became a window into the alien invasion from differing perspectives. The previous A Quiet Place comic kept this streak going, as will Rising Tides. Moving the action to the sea can also offer a new look at the alien invaders. The previous movies hinted at more, and Day One became a window into the alien invasion from differing perspectives. A Quiet Place continues to entertain and terrify audiences, nearly a decade after its release. Another entry is planned, and this one will see John Krasinski’s return to the franchise. The film is slated to release next year. While fans patiently wait for it, IDW has them covered with A Quiet Place: Rising Tides, and it looks to shake up and expand the franchise by taking it out to sea.
