Created by the New Gods and powered by the mysterious Element X, these living supercomputers can heal injuries, manipulate energy, open Boom Tubes across the universe, communicate with their users, and perform feats that seem indistinguishable from magic. They are so powerful that entire worlds have fought wars over them. Movie audiences were introduced to them in the DC Extended Universe timeline. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a Mother Box appears in the files Bruce Wayne steals from Lex Luthor. It ultimately becomes the final component that saves Victor Stone's life and transforms him into Cyborg. The Ultimate Edition also includes a brief appearance by Steppenwolf alongside the devices. Later, Justice League revolves around Steppenwolf's attempt to recover three Mother Boxes hidden on Earth, which he hopes to use to terraform the planet. Impressive as they are, Mother Boxes are not the most powerful artifacts in DC lore. Several weapons, devices, and cosmic objects possess abilities that dwarf even the technology of the New Gods. Some can reshape reality, others grant godlike knowledge, and one can remove free will itself. The Helmet Of Fate The Helmet of Fate is one of the most formidable magical artifacts in the entire DC Universe and was recently brought to live-action audiences through Doctor Fate in Black Adam. Created by the cosmic Lords of Order, the helmet contains the essence of Nabu, one of the most powerful mystical entities in existence. A suitable wearer can become Doctor Fate, effectively serving as Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. The helmet immediately grants access to an astonishing range of powers, including flight, telekinesis, telepathy, precognition, psychometry, teleportation, transmutation, energy projection, enhanced durability, and near-invulnerability. Its user also gains access to the Tower of Fate, a pocket dimension containing an infinite library that holds every spell ever created. That alone would make it more versatile than a Mother Box. The truly terrifying abilities come from Nabu himself. Through the helmet, users can travel through time, move between dimensions, achieve cosmic awareness, and even attain immortality. Some versions of the story require the wearer to surrender control to Nabu, while others do not. Either way, the helmet is selective, choosing only a handful of individuals worthy of wielding its power. Mongul's Warworld Mother Boxes can alter matter and open portals across the cosmos, but they are not designed for outright conquest. Mongul's Warworld absolutely is. This moon-sized battle station resembles a far deadlier version of the Death Star. Built by an ancient warrior civilization, Warworld was engineered specifically as a weapon of mass destruction. Its arsenal contains multiple planet-destroying cannons capable of annihilating entire worlds. Its defenses are equally impressive. The station's shell is said to be as durable as a dwarf star, making it one of the toughest structures in DC continuity. Conventional weapons, including nuclear attacks, are largely ineffective against it. Warworld is also completely self-sustaining. Swarms of maintenance drones constantly repair and maintain the structure. Despite its enormous size, it can travel through the solar system in mere hours and can even shift its outer crust to reveal larger weapons hidden deep within its core. Ironically, Warworld's greatest weakness is not external. Operating it places such tremendous strain on the user's mind and body that its original creators ultimately destroyed themselves. Only Mongul has consistently demonstrated the strength required to control it safely. The Miracle Machine Few devices in comic-book history are as frightening as the Miracle Machine. Created by the hyper-advanced Controllers and later gifted to the Legion of Super-Heroes, this alien supercomputer is so complex that its true name cannot even be pronounced by humans. The Miracle Machine functions similarly to a Green Lantern ring, but on a vastly larger scale. Instead of creating constructs, it transforms thoughts directly into reality. If a user imagines something clearly enough, the machine can make it happen. Its history includes some of the most staggering feats in DC lore. Brainiac 5 used it to stop an invasion of Earth. The Time Trapper employed it to rewrite the nature of time itself. Superman famously used the machine to erase Darkseid from existence. That level of power makes even Mother Boxes look relatively restrained. The Miracle Machine's greatest limitation is the human mind. Its creators warned that no one can maintain perfect focus forever. A single distracting thought while operating it could accidentally reshape reality in catastrophic ways. Even DC's most powerful heroes treat it with extreme caution because one careless moment could rewrite the universe. The Mobius Chair If knowledge truly is power, then the Mobius Chair may be one of the most powerful objects in DC history. Often associated with Metron of the New Gods, the chair was actually created by the Anti-Monitor during his quest to acquire absolute knowledge. After passing into Metron's possession, its technology became one of the foundations that eventually inspired Mother Boxes. The chair allows its occupant to travel effortlessly through space, time, and alternate dimensions. It stores every piece of information encountered by its user and grants immediate access to that knowledge whenever needed. Force fields, tractor beams, life support systems, and complete physical protection are all built into the throne. It’s near-omniscience is what truly elevates the Mobius Chair above Mother Boxes. The Mobius Chair contains the accumulated knowledge of both the Anti-Monitor and the New Gods, effectively turning its occupant into one of the most informed beings in existence. The chair has even crossed the Source Wall safely, a feat few objects can claim. Wally West later discovered its power comes directly from the Source itself, meaning the creator force of the DC Universe is continuously empowering it. The Anti-Life Equation The Anti-Life Equation is not a weapon in the traditional sense, but it may be the most dangerous force on this list. It appeared prominently in Zack Snyder's Justice League and has remained one of Darkseid's greatest obsessions for decades. At its core, the Anti-Life Equation is a mathematical formula that proves free will is meaningless. According to the theory, once someone understands the Equation, they become convinced that existence itself only serves Darkseid's desires. The Equation exists within humanity's collective subconscious and fragments of it are known by characters including Empress, Sonny Sumo, and Pied Piper. Orion and Mister Miracle understand the entire formula but possess the strength to resist using it. Darkseid seeks the Equation because speaking it allows him to dominate any sentient being who hears it. Victims become utterly loyal servants with no ability to resist. Escaping its influence is virtually impossible. Only reality-altering devices can interrupt its effects, while another rare solution involves marking victims with the New Genesis symbol representing freedom. The Equation's influence extends beyond mind control. In DC lore, it is also connected to the creation of the Anti-Matter Universe itself and ultimately gave rise to the Anti-Monitor, making it one of the most consequential forces in existence.
