Zelenskyy taps European allies to build Freya, a cheaper Patriot-alternative to Russia’s ballistic missiles

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is teaming up with European allies to develop Freya, a more affordable version of the Patriot missile defense system, in response to Russia's ongoing missile threats. The first coalition meeting to discuss this homegrown defense initiative will take place in France soon. This move underscores Ukraine's strategic effort to bolster its defenses with local innovation and international cooperation, potentially reshaping its defense capabilities against Russian aggression. The initiative could also signal a broader trend in European defense collaboration amid the ongoing conflict.
