Zelensky Says Ukraine, Germany Finalizing Drone Deal as Kyiv Expands Defense Network

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine and Germany are finalizing a bilateral Drone Deal aimed at expanding joint production and defense cooperation. The two leaders also agreed to meet in person, with Berlin set to deliver new air-defense packages to Ukraine this month. The planned agreement is expected to cover joint development and production of drones, missiles and related software, building on projects already underway between the two countries. Ukraine expands Drone Deal network Germany is part of Kyiv’s broader effort to move from relying mainly on foreign weapons deliveries toward jointly financing and producing Ukrainian defense technologies. Zelensky said in August that Ukraine had signed Drone Deals with nine countries and was working on another 15 agreements. Ukraine has announced partnerships with countries including Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway, while talks with other partners continue. The effort also extends to the European Union, which launched an EU-Ukraine Drone Deal and allocated €1 billion for Ukrainian drone capabilities.
