The long-awaited feature starts rolling out today Image: Microsoft Sign in to your Polygon.com account After leaking earlier this week, Xbox has officially revealed Mythic Achievements, the company's answer to PlayStations Platinum Trophy. Players don't have to wait long to get access to the feature. It will be available starting today for those enrolled in the Xbox Insider program. The feature's launch was announced in an Xbox Wire post, with the company describing it as a way to "recognize some of the biggest accomplishments in your Xbox history." Just like Platinum Trophies, Mythics will be earned once you complete all original achievements for a game. Any further achievements added through DLC or updates won't be counted or retroactively remove a game's Mythic status. Mythics will get a fancy heroic frame to distinguish them among all the normal ones. To make the path to Mythic easier, each game's achievement list will include a progress bar detailing how close you are to completing everything the game requires. The announcement comes a week after Xbox announced more layoffs and studio closures, including the shutdown of Ninja Theory. Xbox also continues to be a priority target of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. What games will have Mythic Achievements? Image: Xbox Xbox hasn't revealed a list of what games will be getting Mythic Achievements as part of the feature's initial rollout. The Xbox Wire post does mention that players will automatically see Mythics pop up on eligible titles, including Xbox 360 titles. Without knowing what system is in place for Mythic Achievements, we won't know for sure what games will be included, but we may be able to guess. PlayStation first introduced Platinum Trophies in 2008, meaning that countless titles from the PS3 era onwards have them. For multi-platform titles, Xbox could reuse PlayStation's Platinum Trophy data to identify eligible Mythic Achievements; Xbox exclusives would require creating Mythics from scratch.
