Will kill you, if...: Jharkhand principal threatens Class 1 girl after rape attempt

A six-year-old Class 1 student was allegedly molested and subjected to an attempted sexual assault by the headmaster of an upgraded primary school in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district. The accused threatened the child with dire consequences if she narrated the incident to anyone, police said on Tuesday.The incident was reported from Upgraded Primary School in Jerua village under the Narayanpur police station limits. The accused, identified as headmaster Mola Ansari, is currently absconding, and police have launched a search operation to arrest him.According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s father, the child had gone to school as usual on Monday. After classes ended, the headmaster allegedly asked some students to stay back and later took the six-year-old girl to a room on the upper floor of the school building.The complaint alleges that he attempted to sexually assault her. The child reportedly raised an alarm, after which she was allowed to leave. The family alleged that the accused threatened the girl with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone. "Kisi ko bataya to jaan se maar dunga. (If you tell anyone, I will kill you)," he allegedly told the child.The child returned home around 2 pm in a distressed condition and narrated the incident to her family, following which they approached the police. The complaint triggered anger among local residents, and the incident has drawn sharp reactions from people in the area. Villagers have demanded strict action against the accused and enhanced safety measures in schools.Narayanpur police registered an FIR in connection with the case. Station House Officer Murad Hasan said a case has been registered and teams are conducting raids to trace the accused.He said police are treating the matter with the utmost seriousness and further legal action is being taken in accordance with established procedures.Police also said the child is being produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for counselling and other support measures required under child protection laws.Statements by family members and other persons connected with the school are being recorded as part of the investigation.The case has once again raised concerns about the safety of children in educational institutions and the need for stronger monitoring and protection mechanisms in schools.
