Published November 3, 2026 06:15 AM It’s been three years since Broncos kicker Wil Lutz missed an extra point. After hitting both his extra points in Sunday’s win over the Chiefs, Lutz has now made 113 consecutive extra points without a miss. That’s the longest streak in the NFL since the 2015 rule change that moved extra points back by 13 yards. The previous record of 112 consecutive extra points was set by Justin Tucker with the Ravens.“I’ve [said] a hundred times how much I value the extra point. I value them a lot. But my goal isn’t to break the record, it’s to make every one the rest of the season, so whatever that number is at the end of the season,” Lutz told Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette.Lutz’s last missed an extra point when he doinked one off the upright against the Bills on November 11, 2023. Lutz made up for that with the game-winning field goal as time expired in a 24-22 victory. The 32-year-old Lutz first entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie in 2016 with the Ravens, who weren’t seriously considering him for a roster spot as they had Tucker, who was the best kicker in the NFL at the time. But Lutz impressed then-Ravens coach John Harbaugh enough that when it came time to cut Lutz at the end of the preseason, Harbaugh personally called then-Saints coach Sean Payton to recommend Lutz. Payton brought Lutz to New Orleans, and then traded for Lutz when Payton became coach of the Broncos.By having faith in Lutz, Payton has ensured that he’ll have nothing to worry about on extra points.
