Why I can’t return to Made In Chelsea at 40… I feel sick just thinking about it, says Sophie Hermann

SHE went from being the no-nonsense sidekick to the Queen Bee of Made In Chelsea during her decade on the reality show. But now, as Sophie Hermann approaches 40, she has ruled out ever returning, and she tells us why she’s been left feeling “sick to her stomach”. These days, Sophie thinks she’s too old to be doing reality TV, telling us: “I can’t be 40 and on that show.” “I’m sick to my stomach at the thought of turning 40,” she says. “I could vomit, but then I look in the mirror, and I feel fine again because I look better than I have ever done, to be honest. “Thank God for medicine, aesthetics and plastic surgery – everything is getting better.” The pristine-looking star has made no secret of the work she’s had done over the years. She says: “I have been getting Botox since I was 24, and that’s why there is nothing there [wrinkles]. I get it every three to four months. “I get everything! I had my stem cell treatment when I was 34, and that really made the biggest difference. I’m still riding off that.” The cosmetic procedure, which costs over £7,000, uses the body’s natural regenerative cells from fat to repair ageing skin, boost collagen production, and restore facial volume. Sophie doesn’t stop there, though – she continues: “I also get laser on my face, but my skin is very thin and white, so I don’t get it that often or strong, because it can permanently scar.” She adds: “I think this generation has the least to worry about, especially as I have frozen my eggs. Plus, we are going to live for so much longer in general.” Sophie decided to freeze her eggs when she was 36 because she didn’t want to “waste her previous DNA”. She says: “I’m a hopeless romantic, so I don’t want to settle for anyone who’s not worth matching with my precious DNA… “I’m even more picky now, which is probably not the best!” Sophie is the granddaughter of Luise Hermann, who founded Mustang Jeans, one of Europe’s oldest and most successful denim brands. Her dad is a successful business consultant, Dieter Hermann, while her mum is an art historian. Her step-mum is Uschi Glas, a legendary German film and television actress and singer who has been a household name in Germany since the 1960s. While she has shared some aspects of her life on telly and social media, Sophie has always remained very coy about her personal life. Before she found fame, Sophie was in a long-term relationship and in the early days of Made In Chelsea, she tried dating co-star Fredrik Ferrier, but they decided they would be better off as friends. In 2020, she was linked to Hollywood Johnny Depp after reportedly slipping her phone number between his guitar strings when they met at a hotel. The DJ even briefly joined MIC, and they moved in together during the lockdown, before calling it quits after six months. Sophie is still looking for love and, chatting at the NEXO Grand Prix Ball at The Peninsula London, said: “I am always dating, but no one worth mentioning. “I am also very private, and the only relationship that you’ve seen, and that wasn’t a relationship, was what happened on Celebs Go Dating [with DJ Tom Zanetti], but otherwise, if you actually look. “I have never ever publicly dated, as it’s not something I feel comfortable with, but all will be revealed at my wedding one day!” She did, however, admit to going on a date with a man she met on Raya, and he whisked her away to Paris for the weekend. “Honestly, you have to set your standards,” she says. “I’m so much more direct and say what I want, whereas before I was always like, ‘Oh, what is he going to think? What are people going to think?’” “But always get your own room. Let them pay for your own hotel room – you want to be safe.” The date might have gone well, but Sophie definitely isn’t putting all her eggs in one basket, adding: “Unless there is a ring on my finger, I will keep dating.”
