The start of trial operations on the first section will be followed by gradual testing of the remaining sections of the line, Goweily added. The implementation of the operational timeline depends on the completion of testing and obtaining international safety certification, he said, in addition to finalizing the training and qualification of the operating crews, including drivers and technicians The German company responsible for operating the train began training the operating crews in February and is expected to complete this phase by February or March, thus preparing the crews to manage and operate the system. The project’s impact extends beyond simply developing transportation, he said, explaining that the high-speed electric train will affect the urban and industrial communities along its route by contributing to the development of new areas and boosting investment and population growth along the line. Goweily viewed the high-speed electric train project to be one of the most important pillars of modern transportation in Egypt, given its role in supporting the new urban and industrial areas along its route.
