‘When I talk to him, he’s still traumatised’ – Luke Shaw’s Man Utd career ‘killed by injuries’ claims Patrice Evra

PATRICE EVRA has claimed injuries TRAUMATISED Luke Shaw and that his time at the top is over. Shaw, 31, is coming off the back of his best season in four years at Old Trafford, but did not impress in the Prem opener against Hull. Speaking to his Kick Stream, the Frenchman said: “Luke Shaw, I love you, but it’s going to be a tough season for him. “Why? He’s been at the club for years, he’s had a lot of injuries that killed his football career. Sign up for the Man United newsletter Thank you! “When I talk with him, he’s still traumatised by [the injuries], he wouldn’t go 100 per cent into every challenge.” Former Southampton defender Shaw started all 38 league matches for United last year, more than in the previous two combined. He was controversially snubbed by Thomas Tuchel for England‘s World Cup squad despite his performances. But Shaw left plenty to be desired alongside his United team-mates in the drab 2-0 defeat last weekend. And Evra thinks enough is enough. He went on: “I have to tell the truth. “Man United fans want to hear my opinion, and I think [Shaw’s] time has gone. Most read in Sport BEST ONLINE CASINOS – TOP SITES IN THE UK “Don’t get me wrong, he might have a great game next game, but I don’t care. “If Luke Shaw can give me a 35-game season, then that’s a good season. “I don’t care if he has 10 good games and three bad ones, if he doesn’t play at least 35 games in a row, Man United fans will go crazy. “He’s lucky because he’s English. “I love Luke Shaw, but I love Man United even more, that’s why I’m saying they need another left-back. “Patrick Dorgu is not a left-back, he’s a left-winger” United are still chasing a new left-back late on in the transfer window with Lewis Hall their top target. But the Newcastle man is not likely to leave at this stage – despite SunSport understanding he would find it hard to turn down a move. And Evra sees the ex-Chelsea man as an ideal replacement. He explained: “That’s what I wanted. [He] is a great player, we’re talking about consistency. “In the game against Liverpool, he gave away a penalty, but I don’t care. “He gives you 90 minutes, guaranteed, that’s the kind of left-back Man United need. “Before me, Denis Irwin was Man United’s best left-back, he could score goals and play either side, and every game. “Since I’ve left, Man United have had 20 people play in my position, no one has replaced me. “Why? Consistency, that’s what is missing at Man United. The best left-back Man United have had since I’ve left is Ashley Young.” Shaw (326) is closing in on Evra’s 379 appearances for United.
