What time is the total solar eclipse today? Check Indian timings

The first total solar eclipse of the year will play out today across parts of the Northern Hemisphere. (Photo: Reuters)The much-awaited first total solar eclipse of the year will unfold today, with the Moon completely covering the Sun along a narrow path stretching across parts of the Northern Hemisphere.The Moon is much smaller than the Sun, but it can appear almost exactly the same size in our sky because it is also much closer to Earth. When the alignment is right, the Moon blocks the Sun and its shadow sweeps across Earth.However, skywatchers in India will not be able to see the eclipse because it occurs when the Sun is below the horizon over the country.WATCH TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE LIVE HERE According to the global eclipse timeline, the event begins with the partial phase at 9:04:15 pm IST on August 12. The first location on Earth to experience totality will enter the full eclipse at 10:28:09 pm IST.The maximum eclipse will occur at 11:16:06 pm IST, when the Moon's shadow is deepest over Earth. The period of totality will then begin to end, with the last location experiencing the full eclipse at 12:04:07 am IST on August 13.
