The accused, identified as Ajmal Haque, was arrested after the woman lodged a written complaint last month against him.Following the complaint, Bidhannagar East Police launched an investigation and began efforts to trace the accused officer. According to police sources, Haque had earlier secured bail in connection with the case. WEST BENGAL SI ARRESTED FOR TAKING RS 15,000 BRIBEIn a separate incident, a Sub-Inspector was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 in West Bengal’s Howrah district, an officer said.The accused, Subrata Sarkar, is posted at Bantra Police Station and was allegedly caught accepting the money from a complainant in exchange for not arresting a person accused in a case registered under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with cruelty by a husband or his relatives towards a woman. The ACB initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint and subsequently laid a trap to catch Sarkar while accepting the alleged bribe.According to the officer, the ACB applied a chemical substance to the currency notes used in the operation.
