Virtual museum dedicated to Sri Aurobindo unveiled at Auroville to mark his 150th birth anniversary

Puducherry Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan at the State-of-the-art virtual museum dedicated to Sri Aurobindo at Bharat Nivas in Auroville. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement A State-of-the-art virtual museum dedicated to Sri Aurobindo has been unveiled at India Space in Bharat NIvas in Auroville, as part of the nationwide commemoration of his 150th birth anniversary.The project, a joint initiative of the Auroville Foundation, the Puducherry government and the Union Ministry of Culture, was executed by the Central Public Works Department.According to a press note, a high-level delegation led by Puducherry Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, Secretary to Puducherry government A. Muthamma, Auroville Foundation Officer on Special Duty G. Seetharaman, senior consultant Venugopal and members of the Auroville Town Development Council and Foundation staff inspected the facility on Thursday.The core concept and narrative script of the virtual museum was conceptualised by Manoj Pavithran, a long-term Aurovilian, ensuring that the curation remains deeply rooted in the authentic spiritual ethos of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.The realisation of the project from concept to delivery was carried forward under the leadership and support of Jayanti S. Ravi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Gujarat Government and Secretary of the Auroville Foundation, the release said.The virtual museum features advanced digital touchpoints and intuitive learning interfaces enable visitors of all ages to explore Sri Aurobindo’s life, integral yoga, literary masterpieces, and historical legacy. A dedicated olfactory installation features the subtle essences and aromas of 12 spiritually significant flowers, reflecting on the teaching of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother on the significance of flowers.The facility will be opened to the public soon, establishing itself as an essential cultural, educational, and spiritual destination for visitors, researchers, and devotees arriving in Auroville and Puducherry.
