Video: Speeding car runs over multiple vehicles, woman lawyer on scooter killed

A woman lost her life and five others, including her husband, were injured after a car driven by a 70-year-old man hit three auto-rickshaws and a two-wheeler in Mumbai's Malad area last week.The incident took place on Sunday, August 30. CCTV footage of the accident has now surfaced. The footage shows a speeding car running over the other vehicles.The car driver, identified as Krishna Shantaram, was arrested before being granted bail by a local court.According to police, the senior citizen was driving an MG Windsor car when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into three auto-rickshaws and a two-wheeler. Six people – including occupants of the auto-rickshaws – were injured and were rushed to a hospital for treatment. A woman among them later succumbed to her injuries. She was a lawyer by profession.She and her husband were on their scooter when the car rammed into it. A case has been registered against Shantaram under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving), among others, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with the Motor Vehicles Act.Ahead of his arrest, the accused was taken to a hospital for a medical examination.- Ends(With inputs from PTI)Published On: Sep 3, 2026 15:01 IST
