Very unexpected ending for Cassie in Coronation Street – she may be dead

Cassie Plummer’s exit from the ITV soap is upon us (Picture: ITV) Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) life is set to take a downward spiral in Coronation Street ahead of her exit from the ITV soap next week. Ever since the arrival of Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) dad Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield), Cassie has been determined to expose his true colours. Later this week, she will reveal that Ross had paid her for sex when she was just 15 years old, but is horrified to learn that Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) has forgiven him by the following day. In a bid to sabotage his new job at Highfield Prison, Cassie comes up with a plan to crush tablets into his smoothie so that he fails the mandatory drug test. However, she doesn’t realise that she has dropped the pill packet, and everything comes crashing down when Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) finds it and calls an end to their relationship. Next week, having been dumped by Steve and thrown out by Tyrone, Cassie wakes up on the sofa at No.4, where Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) explains how he found her drunkenly slumped in the cab office and brought her home. Cassie decides to accept a job cleaning on a cruise ship (Picture: ITV) Later, she emotionally tells her grandchildren that she has been offered a job as a cleaner on a cruise ship and says a heartfelt goodbye. ‘She feels she has absolutely no choice. She has been rejected by the love of her life, Steve, and everyone else has turned their backs on her. She feels her life there has been destroyed. The only option left is to take that job on the cruise ship,’ actress Claire Sweeney said. Before leaving, Cassie asks Steve to meet her at the precinct, but Ross pulls up first and offers her a lift. Cassie gets in the car, only for Ross to lock the doors and speed away, just as Steve arrives. Ross Wilkes speeds off with Cassie in his car (Picture: ITV) The next day, Steve asks Ross where he dropped Cassie off, and Ross suspiciously pretends not to know what he’s talking about. However, when Steve reveals that he saw her getting into his car, Ross is forced to backtrack and hastily explain that he took her to Piccadilly Station. ‘Whether she actually makes it to that ship or what happens when Ross takes her—that’s the beauty of it. No one knows, and it’s left wonderfully open,’ Claire teased.
