UP makes sensitisation videos mandatory for teachers to understand Gen-Alpha students

Teachers in schools across Uttar Pradesh will have to complete 10 sensitisation videos before screening children under the Prashast 2.0 initiative, as the state prepares to identify Gen Alpha students' educational needs and the support they may require.The videos, with a combined duration of around 40 minutes, will introduce teachers to the educational needs of Gen-Alpha children, explain the screening process and guide them on the support that may be needed after children are identified.The move is aimed at ensuring that teachers are prepared before the screening begins, and that students are assessed in a more sensitive and uniform manner across the state.40 MINUTES BEFORE THE BIG TASKTeachers will be required to watch all 10 videos through the Prashast App or online portal. After completing the videos, they will have to finish the prescribed onboarding process before taking part in the screening exercise. The preparation is compulsory before the Prashast 2.0 screening process starts. The state government wants teachers to have the same basic understanding of the process, rather than beginning the exercise without proper orientation.The videos will explain what teachers should look for while understanding a child's educational requirements and how they can identify the support needed.ONE PROCESS, ALL SCHOOLS The initiative is not limited to government-run Parishadiya schools.Teachers from government, private-aided and private-unaided schools are being brought under the Prashast 2.0 system. This will allow teachers across different types of schools to access the same sensitisation material through a common digital platform.Once teachers complete the preparation and onboarding process, the screening of children will begin.DIRECTIVES SENT TO EDUCATION OFFICIALSDirections have been issued to Divisional Assistant Directors of Education and District Basic Education Officers to ensure that teachers under their jurisdiction complete the sensitisation videos.The instructions follow directions from the Director General of School Education, Monika Rani.Officials have been asked to monitor the process so that teachers complete the mandatory preparation before screening starts.The larger aim is to help schools identify children's educational requirements early and understand what additional support may be necessary.
