Issued under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, it gives eligible persons a single disability identity valid across India. The card includes details such as the holder's disability type and percentage, making it easier to access government services and schemes. WHO CAN APPLY?Generally, people with 40% or more disability, as certified by a medical board, are eligible for a UDID card. The card is issued after the required medical verification and approval process.HOW DOES THE RAILWAY TICKET DISCOUNT WORK?Indian Railways offers fare concessions to eligible Divyang passengers. In some cases, the railway ticket discount can be as high as 75 per cent, although the actual concession depends on the disability category and the class of travel. While booking tickets, eligible passengers can choose the concession option and must provide valid disability details linked to their UDID card.
