UDF moving ahead with PM SHRI to please BJP, alleges CPI State secretary Binoy Viswam

Binoy Viswam | Photo Credit: H VIBHU The United Democratic Front (UDF) government has decided to proceed with the Union government’s Prime Ministers’ Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) with the intention of pleasing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary Binoy Viswam has alleged. He said that with the Union government’s reply in the Rajya Sabha, it has become clear that the Chief Minister’s and the Education Minister’s claims that the State had received money by signing the PM SHRI agreement are false.“The Union government has clarified in response to a question from a Congress MP that no further action has been taken in Kerala regarding PM SHRI. It has also revealed that only the Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK) fund was allocated to Kerala. This has also shattered one more argument raised by the UDF government to implement PM SHRI. It is also now clear that the State government has no legal obligation to implement the scheme. The UDF in Kerala is the BJP’s B-team,” he said.Mr. Viswam said that it is shameful that the Indian Union Muslim League has also become propagandists of the Sangh Parivar agenda. “The UDF convener says that PM SHRI is being implemented so that the Central funds are not lost. Central funds are not anyone’s favour. If it is denied, legal actions should be taken. The argument that Kerala’s education sector has to be surrendered to the Sangh Parivar to get Central funds is unacceptable. Any move to destroy the secular content of the education sector in Kerala will not be allowed. Kerala will unitedly resist and defeat the attempt to implement PM SHRI,” he said.During the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s tenure, the CPI was involved in a long tussle with the CPI(M) over PM SHRI.
