Ubuntu 26.10 Delivers Some Nice Gains For Intel Panther Lake / Framework Laptop 13 Pro

For those with a Framework Laptop 13 Pro or another Intel Core Ultra Series 3 "Panther Lake" laptop, the upcoming Ubuntu 26.10 release is delivering some nice out-of-the-box improvements over Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Testing Ubuntu 26.10 on more systems in the Phoronix lab continue yielding nice gains especially on modern hardware platforms. With the likes of the AMD Strix Halo Framework Desktop has been some nice wins on this upcoming Ubuntu "Stonking Stingray" release thanks to the newer kernel, now on Linux 7.3 among other software upgrades. The Intel Panther Lake performance is also nicely improved as to be shown in this article, especially on the Intel Arc B390 Graphics side where the newer Mesa can help out especially for Vulkan workloads. For this round of testing I ran the Framework Laptop 13 Pro with the Intel Core Ultra X9 388H with 64GB of LPDDR5-7467 memory, 2TB WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD, and the integrated Arc B390 graphics. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS out-of-the-box with all stable release updates was compared to Ubuntu 26.10 in its daily state as of 22 September.
