The original G1 series was so strong that it made an immediate impact, and it stayed relevant through multiple series (including Beast Wars), then throughthe long string of Michael Bay universe films that still aren't down for the count. With the re-release of the original film and the outpouring of emotion over Peter Cullen's passing, it's clear fans are still around, and the eternal conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons will continue. There's something special about the relationship between Optimus and Megatron in particular, and the chemistry between Cullen and Frank Welker was undeniable. Now, fans can try a completely new chapter of the Transformers universe with Eternal War, featuring a completely original story. Out on November 12, Transformers: Eternal War is looking to use the G1 motif and shake things up a bit. Releasing on mobile devices, the strategy game will allow players to change tactics on the fly, and command forces using both Autobots and Decepticons as they take on a new enemy. Developed by Wanda Cinemas Games (who also handled tie-ins like Saint Seiya and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is handling developmental duties: "Autobots and Decepticons stand united against the Chaos Legion! Experience an all-new Transformers Strategy RPG featuring an original story by Simon Furman! The Earth has been consumed by a mysterious force born from pure chaos energy—an unstoppable corruption now spreading toward humanity’s final line of defense. For generations, Autobots and Decepticons have waged an unrelenting war. But in the face of the Chaos Legion—as heroes and villains fight against the chaos—old enmities must be set aside. The fight for Earth is no longer about victory. It is about survival." This isn't the first time the Autobots and Decepticons have united against a common foe. In fact, in Earthspark, Megatron converts and helps the Autobots plan a better future together with humanity. Naturally, third parties step in to try to wreck that partnership as the saga of Megatron and Optimus Prime continues. The Chaos Legion is also rooted in the series' lore, including the reveal of Chaos Herald Optimus Prime, created by series villain Unicron using dark energy. It's an original character crafted for Eternal War, and if it takes off, we could see it somewhere in the future. Custom Image by Kevin Erdmann Famed Transformers writer Simon Furman is involved, and crafted the Chaos Legion story that brings the two warring factions together. You'll be able to recruit units to your side for battle, then manage the Ark, your base of operations. If you're interested, pre-registration milestones are available now, including EXP boosters, Character Recruit Packs, Legendary Gear, and an exclusive avatar frame. Soundwave is also available as a two-day login bonus. Eternal War could end up operating like many similar mobile strategy games, but its focus on story could set it apart from other mobile tie-ins. Stay tuned until November to see if Eternal War makes its mark on the Transformers universe.
