Sally Ann brought Tracy some lovely goodies as her cancer battle continues (Picture: Instagram/tracy.k.shaw) Two icons of Coronation Street have reunited, as Tracy Shaw and Sally Ann Matthews came together for a sun drenched and joy filled afternoon as Tracy continues to battle breast cancer. Tracy and Sally became firm friends while working together on tour, starring alongside each other in the play Mum’s The Word in 2010. Interestingly though, Tracy and Sally never crossed paths on the Cobbles, with Tracy’s alter-ego Maxine being killed off during Sally Ann’s long break from the show. Tracy uploaded a slew of images to her Instagram, with Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ as the soundtrack. ‘Never stopped laughing #sallyannmatthews,’ Tracy began the caption. Brunch led to lunch. 3 hours of glorious laughter.Homemade ginger biscuits and sunflowers, I was spoilt. We met on tour years ago and we haven’t stopped laughing since’ ‘Love you Sal’, she finished. The comment section was flooded with love, including from former Coronation Street co-stars, with Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe writing: ‘Love this’, while Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Connor added: ‘Gorgeous you two!’. @gigiholman said: ‘This is friendship in its purest form…pick up where you left off, always there, laughing until you cry…so glad you have these people in your life’, while @clairemorrisbrown added: ‘Every girl needs a best gal pal in good times and bad. Those ginger biscuits look scrumptious!’ Tracy has been steadfastly keeping her followers up to date on her cancer journey and the day before her meeting with Sally Ann, she spoke of her gratitude for those who’ve been through what she’s experiencing. ‘I am so grateful. I am so grateful!’ she began the clip as she took in the fresh air. ‘When the cycle gets to this point, I realise – even though I feel that I have gratitude every day – the simplest of things feel like a miracle. ‘Having spent time trying to be with the middle of the cycle of chemo and sit with it, it’s not easy, it’s really painful…and when people say this too shall pass, sometimes it’s like…’Argh! Not now, though, is it?’ But it does. And this body, your bodies are remarkable. Tracy has been keeping fans up to date on her journey (Picture: Tracy.k.shaw/ITV) ‘I mean, the organs, they’re really painful because [the chemo has] attacked the heart, the liver, the lungs, the bladder. And I can feel that. I can feel that they’re struggling this time, which is why all the scans are booked for this point. ‘I just can’t describe what I see in life. When you come through the other side, and I’m halfway through chemo, not even got to surgery or radiotherapy yet, but I just want to thank every woman who has been through this and share some light on you all for being absolutely amazing. ‘I mean, you’re absolutely amazing! Tracy showed gratitude to every woman that’s walked the same path as her (Picture: Tracy.k.shaw/ITV) ‘Many, many women do this in silence and they have young families and just get on with it and it completely changes everything in your life. And the only thing you have to focus on is staying well, but just getting through the next day, and then getting through the next day. ‘I just can’t share enough love and gratitude to everyone who’s gone before, everyone who has gone through tests to make this possible for this type of chemo to work.
