Comedic actor and part-time doc-maker Nathan Fielder of Nathan For You and The Rehearsal fame teamed up with Lance Oppenheim for the film which made a surprise premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on Sunday with critics universally declaring their minds completely blown. Holmes made millions as the controversial founder of healthcare technology start-up Theranos when she was 19-years-old. The corporation was hailed as a ground-breaking new healthcare company until Holmes was found guilty on all counts of defrauding investors and sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2022. There have been countless podcasts, documentaries and even an Emmy-award winning drama starring Amanda Seyfried serialising the unsettling story, but absolutely nothing has come close to the access Holmes herself has granted in the aptly titled You Can See Everything. The film runs for almost three hours with Holmes allowing Fielder to move into her home, quite literally giving him complete access to her entire life, psyche and family before she was put behind bars. But the trailer alone has left audiences transfixed too. In it, Fielder is staring intensely into Holmes’ eyes as she insists she is not ‘deceiving’ him, her smile unbroken and glare completely locked on his. It’s a strange and deeply uncomfortable stand-off between the pair, Fielder unconvinced, or at least, unsure if he can truly trust the woman in front of him. Cate Hall quoted the trailer on X, asking: ‘how is this real.’ Another account going by Jason ordered the Academy to ‘give Nathan Fielder the Oscar for Best Doc immediately’. PsicoPapi added: ‘How can 30 seconds of a documentary have given me more agony than any horror movie I’ve seen this year.’ During a Q&A following the first screening of the film, according to Deadline, Fielder admitted he was just as baffled by the whole thing as everyone else is. He said: ‘What I am really excited about is for you to see the movie and tell me what I experienced. I don’t know why they wanted me there.
