Tom Holland Says Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Did The Symbiote "So Well"

Sign in to your TheGamer account When talking about the possibility of bringing the Symbiote suit into the MCU, Tom Holland said that he’s not sure how since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 “did it so well”. Ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s been made very clear that Marvel is taking a lot of inspiration from Insomniac’s beloved video games. That love has been made even more apparent with all of the interviews for the newest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which have seen a lot of mentions about PlayStation’s Spidey. Tom Holland has been quick to talk about and hype up Insomniac’s games at the drop of a hat in the press tour for Brand New Day, from pointing out that the combat is inspired by them and even just saying how much he loves them. There’s one take that I’m sure won’t go down well with fans, though, and that’s that Insomniac did the Symbiote suit best. That’s A Very Hot Take Since Most Fans Don’t See It That Way In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Tom Holland was asked about his favourite Spider-Man suit in all of the movies. In response, Holland says that he loves the black suit in Tobey Maguire’s movies since it’s “really cool”, and then goes on to say that he’s unsure how they would introduce it for his Spidey. Holland thinks that tackling the Symbiote suit would be a “challenge”, and then specifically says that’s because Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 “did it so well”. The Spider-Man actor isn’t sure how you’d do a suit that’s similar to Insomniac’s one without a CG component, suggesting that he’s more on about the look than how the Symbiote was used in the story. Even if that’s what he means, I’m not sure that’s a take that most fans would agree with, as many derided the Symbiote suit for looking too alien, robotic, and fleshy compared to the comics and other movies. Considering the Symbiote’s alien origin is meant to surprise Peter, it looking so obviously alien wasn’t what most fans wanted to see. If Holland is actually on about the Symbiote suit’s story arc in Spider-Man 2, that’s another take that fans likely won’t agree with. The allegory for addiction was an interesting route to take, but most agree that the Anti-Venom suit completely undoes that, and that Peter being overtaken by the Symbiote was a little too rushed overall. Whatever Holland is hyping up about Insomniac’s Symbiote suit, I’m sure that it’s not going to go down well with fans. While Marvel’s Spider-Man has plenty of positives to it, the Symbiote suit’s look and position in the story isn’t generally thought to be one of them, and certainly not what everyone wants for the MCU.
