Let’s see who I can be without you.” Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! The pint-sized pop star hinted previously about using the album to fight back. She said “It is something that is full of life, and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging. I wrote from a place I don’t usually, which is unfiltered rage. But the brilliantly blunt title track of the new album shows Ariana doesn’t want to be seen as a walkover, with her singing: “All my favourite stories end in some catastrophe, but I don’t need someone to save me. “’Cause this music and I will never die. But this time feels so different, this is not a cry for help.” Following the split from Wicked co-star Ethan in June after three years, Ariana has headed back to familiar ground and is dating her ex, dancer Ricky Alvarez. Fans think she has used album track Bad Thing (Bunny Hop) to heap praise on him. On the song, Ari purrs: “You’ve really been such a good boy. “Through all of this noise, the frequency’s changing. ’Cause it’s too late to turn back now. You know you make a real good boyfriend. In my dreams, and in real life.” True to form, there’s also a nod to her X-rated antics, last heard on No1 album Positions from 2020. Also on the record, which dropped on National Orgasm Day, Ariana sings during Big Feelings: “The grass is way greener since I been beneath ya.” Just in case the listener hasn’t got the message, she adds bluntly on Like I Do: “No one f***s you like I do.” We’ll take your word for it, Ari.
