TOM Cruise’s 20-year-old daughter Suri has seemingly severed her final tie with the actor after over a decade of not seeing one another. The college student has dropped her dad’s famous surname entirely, opting to go by Suri Noelle – her mother’s middle name – instead. Tom’s daughter Suri has publicly registered to vote in Pennsylvania, where she is studying, under the new moniker, as opposed to Suri Cruise. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! US residents are required to register to vote with their legal name, meaning she would have had to legally drop her dad’s surname. According to Page Six, Suri did not file a name change request in her current county, which suggests she could have done so while living in New York with mother Katie Holmes. The relationship lasted until 2012, when they divorced over irreconcilable differences. Following the split, Tom has been famously estranged from his daughter – with their last public appearance together in 2012. Insiders have since claimed that Tom and Suri haven’t seen one another privately in over a decade either. The actor is Scientology’s most high-profile follower, which is said to have caused a rift between the family. Preiously, Investigative journalist Tony Ortega, who has delved into the workings of the church for three decades, explained: “When Katie split up with Tom any normal Scientologist would be told she is considered a suppressive person — an enemy of the church. “And Suri, being connected to Katie, would be considered a PTS — potential trouble source. “Tom would be expected to disconnect from them and not have anything to do with them.” Prior to the divorce, Tom appeared a devoted dad to Suri and was often seen publicly doting on the youngster. But for the last 14 years, Suri lived with her mother Katie in New York, with the actress having full custody. While they may be estranged, Suri appears to have been passed down both of her parents’ love for the arts. She is currently studying musical theater in the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Tom is also a dad to Bella and Connor, both of whom he adopted during his marriage to Nicole Kidman. Both now-adult children are members of the Church of Scientology and are thought to have a close relationship with Tom. Comment now
