The Thunder Spear (no relation to Attack on Titan) is one of Phantom Blade Zero's most powerful Phantom Edges. Unsurprisingly, it utilizes the power of thunder to wreak havoc among enemies. It's a nightmare to get, with its boss fight proving one of the most difficult (for me at least) in the Pangzhen region, but it's well worth upgrading. To do so, you'll first need to find Myst in Pangzhen, who will teach you the art of Soul Tempering. This allows you to upgrade your weapons and Phantom Edges to the next level, giving it a new and powerful ability — provided you find the special item required to do so. This item for the Thunder Spear is called the Thunder Core, and we'll tell you exactly where to go to find it. How To Find The Thunder Core The first major step you'll need to complete to get the Thunder Core is finding all three parts and rebuilding the Illusory Pipa Phantom Edge. In doing this, you'll be able to clear areas covered by mist scattered across the world of Phantom Blade Zero. Find all three parts, take them to Myst, and get the Illusory Pipa repaired. Thankfully, you don't have too far to go from here. Staying in Pangzhen, head to the Marketplace Bell. Head down the stairs in front of you and head to the left, using the Illusory Pipa to clear the mist blocking the doorway to the Pangzhen Inn. There are three floors to the inn, and you'll need to fight your way to the top. Each floor will have three enemies, including one pesky Zither player. As you head up the stairs, look to your left, and you'll see a room with a hole in the floor. You'll want to drop down here, and you'll find a treasure chest in front of you. Open it, and you'll be rewarded with the Thunder Core. You'll also find a woman sitting on a table at the back of the top floor. Speaking to her will open up the Don't Forget Me side quest. How To Upgrade To The Thunder Spear Take your Thunder Core back to the Marketplace Bell, and you'll be able to Soul Temper the Thunder Spear. This grants the Phantom Edge a powerful ability: Cascading Thunder. The ability powers up the spear, meaning when it hits an enemy, lightning chains to two more nearby, dealing 100 percent and 50 percent of the original damage. It's a great addition to what is already a very powerful Phantom Edge, and it's one that could certainly carry you through the endgame.
