There's a whole plan: Tom Holland confirms plan to pass Spider-Man baton

Actor Tom Holland may be back as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but the actor is already thinking about who could eventually take over the iconic web-slinger. Holland has revealed that plans for his Spider-Man successor have been in the works for nearly five years.Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the 30-year-old actor said the team began discussing the succession plan after wrapping Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). He also revealed that he wants to be directly involved in passing the baton to the next actor who will play Spider-Man.“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Holland said. “It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision for the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”Holland first appeared as Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He went on to headline Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, followed by appearances in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). While it remains unclear who will eventually succeed Holland as Spider-Man, Miles Morales appears to be one possibility. During the Brand New Day press tour, Holland told the AP that he has a “desire to bring Miles Morales to the screen” and help guide “the lucky young kid who gets that job.”Holland has also previously expressed his interest in helping introduce the next generation of Spider-Man characters. Speaking to Empire earlier this year, he said he would be happy to be involved if the successor were Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman or another character.Spider-Man: Brand New Day released in theatres on July 30.
