MANILA, Philippines — The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) flagged the financial transactions of Vice President Sara Duterte allegedly related to the flood control issue and illegal drugs, the House prosecution team said on October 5. Based on the summary of reports submitted by the AMLC to the Senate impeachment court, Duterte has 373 covered transaction reports (CTRs) and 34 suspicious transaction reports (STRs), while her husband has 363 CTRs and 30 STRs. When combined, the transactions amount to P4.4 billion. The reports however do not imply that the flagged transactions are illegal, and are part of the monitoring process under the Anti-Money Laundering Act. On October 6, bank representatives took the witness stand to authenticate account records and to verify the accuracy of the veep’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs), which allegedly do not reflect substantial bank balances. On October 7, House prosecutors presented P96 million in manager’s checks as they sought to establish a “pattern of concealment” involving the year-end balances of the Vice President and her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte. Bank of the Philippine Islands officer Marwin Galvez confirmed the father and daughter had a joint time deposit account opened in January 2010 with a principal amount of P40.65 million. Alexander Cabrera, a financial forensic analyst called as a witness, told the impeachment court on October 9 that Vice President Sara Duterte’s undeclared wealth tops P800 million. He said that based on his review of voluminous financial records of Duterte and her husband, Mans Carpio, the couple has around P817 million in undisclosed assets and income from 2022 to 2025.
