Deadline reports that The Morning Show season 5, which began filming in the spring and will be released sometime in 2027, will be the show's farewell run, confirming that the dramedy will not be getting a sixth season. Following the announcement, Aniston released a statement thanking Apple for supporting the vision that the producers and writers had when they started working on The Morning Show. "We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to tell stories that reflect what's happening in the world around us with a twist of dark humor," she said. The actress, who's also an executive producer, went on to praise the cast, writers, producers and crew, and admitted that they've all become like a family over these past seven years. Since the team knew ahead of time that season 5 would be the end of The Morning Show, they were able to "craft the conclusion with intentionality, and honor these characters the way they deserve," Aniston revealed. Her co-star and fellow executive producer Witherspoon also spoke out about The Morning Show ending, saying that it was more than just a TV series. "It was a show about why the newsroom matters. About freedom of the press, and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost," she explained, adding that being able to tell these kinds of stories has been the "creative privilege of my career." Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, director Mimi Leder, Michael Ellenberg, Lauren Neustadter, Kristin Hahn, Zander Lehmann and Micah Schraft serve as executive producers on The Morning Show with Aniston and Witherspoon. Aside from series regulars Aniston, Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Karen Pittman, Nestor Carbonell, Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie, the final season will also see the arrival of new cast members Jesse Williams (as UBN Head of News Vernon), Jeff Daniels (as billionaire Lukas), Reneé Rapp (as an up-and-comer in the news industry), Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan. Apple TV debuted on November 1, 2019, with the premieres of the TV shows The Morning Show, For All Mankind, See, Dickinson, Ghostwriter, Helpsters, Snoopy in Space, and Oprah's Book Club. The Morning Show, created by Jay Carson, then released new seasons every two years, with the most recent installment coming out in 2025, which means the upcoming final season coming out in 2027 keeps this release pattern intact. The Morning Show currently holds an average critic score of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes. Throughout its run, it has earned nominations at the Emmys, Golden Globes, SAG Awards and Critics' Choice Television Awards. Crudup won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, while Aniston won at the SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, among other wins for the show. Crudup is currently nominated in the same category at this year's Emmys, which will air live on September 14 on NBC. The two lead stars have appeared in numerous movies and shows over the years (like Friends, Marley & Me and Horrible Bosses for Aniston, and Legally Blonde, Walk the Line and Big Little Lies for Witherspoon). Now they're teaming up one more time for the final season of The Morning Show.
