The Lincoln

13.5/20Updated October 7, 2026,first published November 18, 2024Pub spirit, restaurant polish. Is The Lincoln a great local pub? A casual dinner spot? A solid cocktail bar? The magic is that it manages to be all three. A line of 12 taps pours craft beers at the charmingly old-school front bar, while the back is jam-packed with diners enjoying table service.Whichever side you settle into, there’s a solid range of Australian and European wines and the full dinner menu to choose from. You’ll see thick-cut chicken schnitzels arriving with a large dollop of herb butter and iceberg lettuce. You’ll see baked scallops under a blanket of buttery chorizo bechamel and herb-flecked bread crumbs. You’ll see deeply golden-brown prawn toast brightened by coriander, lightly pickled cucumber there to cut right through the richness. None of it would look out of place in a neighbourhood bistro, but the Lincoln’s warm staff and easygoing demeanour means this place exudes the charm of a proper local.Good to know: The Sunday roast is one of Melbourne’s best.Good Food reviews are booked anonymously and paid independently.
