(AP Photo/Steven Senne, File)(AP Photo/Steven Senne, File)A 19-year-old man was killed while trying to save his girlfriend after she fell onto subway tracks in Massachusetts and he stepped on the electrified third rail.According to Boston television station WFXT, the man, later identified as Frankey Wright Jr., was with his 19-year-old girlfriend at Forest Hills Station on Aug. 29. The two were headed to the Caribbean Festival and were each carrying a flag of a Caribbean country.A Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) spokesperson said the two were on the platform when Wright’s girlfriend lost her balance and fell onto the tracks. Wright went after her and came into contact with the electrified third rail. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his girlfriend was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.“This appears to be a horrific tragedy, and on behalf of the Transit Police Department and the entire MBTA organization, we express our most sincere condolences to the decedent’s family and friends,” MBTA Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”The investigation is ongoing but police do not expect foul play.Frankey Wright, Wright Jr.’s father, told WFXT he was devastated by the loss of his son but proud of him.“My son was a noble young man, and he lost his life trying to save the life of his girlfriend,” he said.Chris Franklin is an NFL reporter for NJ Advance Media, covering anything and everything that has to do with the team.
