Taskmaster fans want underdog comedian to win despite ‘never hearing of them before’

| Deputy TV editor Published September 5, 2026 10:29am Updated September 5, 2026 10:30am Taskmaster is back, and one comedian is already a firm fan favourite (Picture: Channel 4) Taskmaster kicked off its 22nd series this week, and fans already know who they want to walk away with Greg Davies’ head. Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie, Matt Lucas, Nina Conti, and Richard Ayoade are the latest batch of comedians tasked by Alex Horne with impressing Davies, and things have got off to a hilariously bad start. Richard’s already getting gloriously grumpy about the rules; Isy managed to score zero points for thinking coffee pods were a golden plate, Nina sang one of the worst songs ever written, and Matt claimed he’d never seen the show before. Sounds like a vintage Taskmaster series. Still, there’s one comedian who’s already impressing viewers and, as is often the way with Taskmaster, it’s the one people claim they’d never heard of before. Chloe is already building up a rather dedicated fan base online. Still, if Chloe wants to win, they’ll have their work cut out for them. Greg has promised to be a strict taskmaster (pun unintended) this season after being criticised online. ‘People have been saying on the Internet that I’m getting softer, so I’m gonna toughen up,’ he said before declaring: ‘Daddy’s back!’ We wouldn’t want it any other way, Greg… Taskmaster airs weekly on Channel 4 at 9pm on Thursdays.
